Here Goes Nothing

I spent probably close to 3 hours on this pool sticking 14" bull trout to a deer hair mouse with a 9wt, and I loved every minute of it.

Well, this is new. I don't like change, because of the change fearing little boy that I am. But we feel like this is a step in the right direction. There really is only so much you can say through social media, and chances are, people really don't give a damn what your opinion is when they read it in a comment section, whether it's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or whatever. People just don't care. This on the other hand is different. For the people who are actually interested in hearing what goes through our somewhat hilarious, not-so hilarious, and absurd minds, this is a new place to keep an eye on.

Lets start off by saying, we'll be keeping this PG-13, there may be the odd/consistent curse word thrown in here and there. However some people may find that offensive, we're all fishermen or outdoorsmen at the very least, and at one point or another, you've probably heard the F word out on your adventures. So we want to keep this as real as possible, hopefully this is something that will keep you and us busy through the long cold winter. However, none of us are English majors, hell, two of us are barely educated. So don't expect much. One of us likes bugs, One is studying to be a veterinarian who's pretty fresh on the scene, One LOVES online dating, Ladies, and has an unbelievable talent with photography, and One of us, drives the others crazy, but seems to catch all the fish. We all share a passion in fly fishing, whether it be photography, videography, or the outdoors. Really though, I'm just here because I like sticking fish with sharp pointy things, and I seem to be alright at doing so on a regular basis.

That's kind of where it began. I spent a lot of time growing up fly fishing with my dad, and eventually we ended up including my cousin (Sam) in our trips, and slowly we just became really really close friends rather then just that cousin you have... but don't really like (If any of our relatives are reading this, stop being weird. You're freaking us out). Anyways back to the story, as we started to take trips on our own outside of with the old men, we really started to garner an interest in taking pictures of our adventures, which eventually led to the purchase of a GoPro, as well as getting a basic DSLR as a Christmas present, and after fiddling with those ridiculous little buttons; only to set the camera on auto in the end... We started recording our adventures.

Looking back at how this all started, I laugh, really really hard. Some seriously funny shit has happened in the past two years. Almost all of it will be re-told, and hopefully, it will be entertaining to those of you who enjoy our Photography and Video. Hopefully it will put more a personal touch on our "work". In 2012 I basically pitched the idea to Sam, and that was to make a Facebook page, and start sharing pictures and videos. From there, we created our first film together along with a couple sub par photos, nothing major. 2013 Things really heated up, we had a good idea on the direction we were going. We brought on Zach, because he had plenty of experience in the filming industry, he's a cool dude, and he had a background with the outdoors, creating videos and tying flies. 2013 proved to be a pretty consistent year, except for everyone complaining about the bow river floods (Just in case any of you hosers feel like this is an attack on you it isn't, but there is a heck of a lot more water north of red deer then most of you think). We had a pretty good year, we had a week scheduled to capture moments with bull trout and grayling in the north Country, and more importantly get an un-pressured bull trout to eat a surface skating mouse, mission accomplished.

That's just our history, and over the next couple of months we'll unravel what really happened this year here at Adipose, because 2014 was full of ups and downs, which resulted in tension between the group, but basically, we learned a valuable lesson. Filming and taking pictures outdoors, has so many variables, you can't bank on one select week of the year, you can't set your expectations too high, and mother nature just simply doesn't care about your plans. Basically, we either got rained out, locked out, or the fish didn't cooperate at least when we had filming cameras present. Regardless, this website has been a project in the back of our minds since the middle of summer. We thought it would be a good way for those of you who would like to see inside the minds of Adipose. If you're not interested fine, be that way, I speak for all of us when I say, I wont be losing any sleep at night.
